Das Projekt Nomadic Island ist ein internationales Artist-in-Residence-Projekt, das darauf abzielt, eine experimentelle Gemeinschaft zu schaffen, an der eine Gruppe von Künstlern einerseits und eine Gruppe von Anwohnern andererseits beteiligt sind. Für einen festgelegten Zeitraum von drei Wochen wird diese experimentelle Plattform Räume für Kreation und Austausch bieten, in denen Synergien rund um das Thema alternative Lebens- und Arbeitsformen entstehen werden.
Das Projekt erfordert die aktive Beteiligung aller Bewohner, sowohl für die Produktion von Kunstwerken als auch für die Aufrechterhaltung einer funktionierenden Gemeinschaft, in der jeder seinen eigenen Beitrag zur Logistik unter einer soziokratischen Führung leistet.
Das Projekt Nomadic Island soll eine Plattform für den Austausch und die Sensibilisierung für unseren Lebensstandard und den sozialen und ökologischen Fußabdruck sein, den wir hinterlassen. Dabei steht die Aussicht auf eine nachhaltigere Existenz aus verschiedenen Perspektiven im Mittelpunkt: sozial, wirtschaftlich, ökologisch und kulturell.
Wie können Kunst und Produktion Vorschläge für Konzepte und Umsetzungen hervorbringen, die zu nachhaltigeren Lebens- und Arbeitsweisen führen? Wie können wir mit den moralischen Fragen umgehen, die durch das unterschiedliche Konsumniveau der westlichen postindustriellen Gesellschaft und der Entwicklungsländer oder der Länder, die unter Armut leiden, aufgeworfen werden?

“Direct Democracy, Degrowth, & System Change” by Eleanor Finley (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) This presentation explores the relationship between sustainability, degrowth and non-hierarchical forms of governance. Gianfranco Celestino Kurator und Projektleiter
Nachdem er sein klassisches Klavierstudium am Konservatorium G. Verdi in Turin (Italien) absolviert hat, studierte Gianfranco Celestino Bühnentanz an der Folkwang Hochschule in Essen (Deutschland), unter der Leitung der Tänzer der Kompanie von Pina Bausch. Als Tänzer arbeitet er in Belgien, Deutschland und Luxemburg. Seit 2002 trägt er mit zahlreichen choreografischen Arbeiten dazu bei, die Luxemburger Tanzlandschaft zu bereichern. Im 2016 gründete er den Verein Friday Island und produzierte eine Reihe von künstlerischen Veranstaltungen soziokultureller Art, die von zahlreichen öffentlichen und privaten luxemburgischen Institutionen unterstützt werden.
Neckel Scholtus Kurator und Projektleiter
Annick Sophie "Neckel" Scholtus, geboren 1982, lebt und arbeitet in Luxemburg. Die Fotografin hat ihr Studium an den Universitäten Montpellier III und Paris 8 abgeschlossen. Ihre künstlerischen Projekte entwickelt sie hauptsächlich in Bezug auf die Öffentlichkeit, insbesondere durch Residenzen, aber auch als freiberufliche Vermittlerin in kulturellen Strukturen. Seit 2010 hat sie den Status einer luxemburgischen unabhängigen professionellen Künstlerin. Neckel Scholtus gründete 2009 den Verein Roulot'ographe, im Rahmen dessen sie zahlreiche Projekte auf der Grundlage nomadischer künstlerischer Praktiken hervorbringt. 2013 nahm das künstlerische Projekt "Roulot'ographe" am Projekt "Nomadic Village" teil, das 35 Künstler aus 17 verschiedenen Ländern teilnahmen. Seine Arbeiten wurden bereits in Frankreich, Luxemburg, China, Deutschland, der Schweiz, Schweden, Bulgarien, der Elfenbeinküste, Italien ausgestellt.
