Le projet Nomadic Island est un projet d'artiste en résidence internationale visant à créer une communauté expérimentale impliquant un groupe d'artistes d'un côté, et un groupe de résidents locaux de l'autre. Pendant une durée déterminée de trois semaines, cette plateforme expérimentale proposera des espaces de création et d'échange où émergeront des synergies autour du thème des modes de vie et de travail alternatifs.
Le projet sollicite ainsi une participation active de la part de tous ses résidents, tant pour la production d'œuvres d'art que pour le maintien d'une communauté opérationnelle où chacun assurera sa propre contribution à la logistique sous une gouvernance sociocratique. Le projet Nomadic Island se veut une plateforme d'échange et de prise de conscience sur nos niveaux de vie et sur l'empreinte sociale et environnementale que nous laissons, en mettant l'accent sur la perspective d'une existence plus durable à partir de différents points de vue : social, économique, écologique et culturel.
Comment l'art et la production peuvent-ils générer des propositions de concepts et de mises en œuvre résultant à des modes de vie et de travail plus durables ? Comment pouvons-nous faire face aux problèmes moraux soulevés par la différence de degré de consommation entre la société post-industrielle occidentale, les économies en développement ou encore les pays qui souffrent de la pauvreté ?

“Direct Democracy, Degrowth, & System Change” by Eleanor Finley (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) This presentation explores the relationship between sustainability, degrowth and non-hierarchical forms of governance. Using the frameworks of social ecology and degrowth, we will reflect on how our current system of economic production paradoxically obstructs human flourishing and prosperity. À propos
Gianfranco Celestino curateur et directeur de projet.
Après avoir accompli ses études de piano au Conservatoire Giuseppe Verdi de Turin (Italie), Gianfranco Celestino étudie la danse contemporaine à l’école supérieure Folkwang à Essen (Allemagne), sous la direction, entre autres, des danseurs de la compagnie de Pina Bausch. En tant que danseur, il travaille à l'international en Belgique, en Allemagne et au Luxembourg. A partir de 2002, il contribue à enrichir le paysage de la danse luxembourgeoise de nombreuses œuvres chorégraphiques. En 2016, il crée l'a.s.b.l Friday Island et produit une série d'événements artistiques à caractère socio-culturel soutenus par de nombreuses institutions luxembourgeoises publiques et privées.
Neckel Scholtus curatrice et directrice de projet
Annick Sophie « Neckel » Scholtus, née en 1982, vit et travaille au Luxembourg. Artiste photographe, elle est diplômée des Universités de Montpellier III et Paris 8. Elle développe principalement son projet artistique en relation avec le public par le biais notamment de résidences, mais également en tant que médiatrice free lance dans des structures culturelles. Depuis 2010, elle possède le statut d’artiste professionnel indépendant luxembourgeois. Neckel Scholtus fonde en 2009 l'association Roulot'ographe qui réalise de nombreuses productions basées sur des pratiques artistiques nomades. En 2013, le projet artistique 'Roulot'ographe' participe au projet artistique 'Nomadic Village' qui accueille trente-cinq artistes de dix-sept pays différents. Son travail a déjà été exposé en France, au Luxembourg, en Chine, en Allemagne, en Suisse, en Suède, en Bulgarie, en Côte d'ivoire, en Italie.
