Beschreibung

BELONG zielt darauf ab, das globale kulturelle Erbe zu bewahren und gleichzeitig das interkulturelle Verständnis und den Austausch zu fördern, indem folkloristische Künste genutzt und Synergien zwischen multidisziplinären und multikulturellen Kunstformen geschaffen werden. BELONG bindet Musiker und Künstler durch eine Reihe von Meisterkursen, Bootcamps und Workshops ein, in denen Künstler einander Kunst und Musik aus ihren Ländern und Kulturen beibringen und daran arbeiten, ihre Stile zu einer einzigartigen künstlerischen Kreation zu vermischen, die in einer Reihe von Konzerten entlang der Projektlaufzeit aufgeführt wird. 

BELONG dient dazu, die kulturelle Identität des Esch2022-Gebiets zu unterstreichen, indem das künstlerische Potenzial und die kulturelle Vielfalt der Region durch die Schaffung eines vielseitigen Produkts mit einer persönlichen und zugleich integrativen Anziehungskraft hervorgehoben wird, das alle Menschen unabhängig von ihrem kulturellen Hintergrund anspricht.

Folk-rock music masterclass

In collaborates with Opderschmelz cultural center, BELONG invites all musicians and artists for a free of charge masterclass on Folk-Rock music led by the world-class Canadian band "The Paperboys." For a quarter century, The Paperboys have been touring the world and lighting up stages with their freewheeling blend of influences from Celtic and bluegrass, to Mexican son jarocho, brass bands, and Canadian roots. Mexican folk music workshop

Musician, Singer, dancer, or just culturally curious? Would you like to learn more about Mexican Folk Music? Would you like to experiment integrating your own style within the dancing tunes of son Jarocho! Join our free of charge workshop. Dr. Eduardo Ibargüengoytia Arias, a Mexican mathematician and multi instrumentalist, will be introducing the interesting story of how the interaction between Spanish and African cultures, arriving to the “new” land of Mexico and exchanging with the locals, emerged the new musical culture of son Jarocho - a mix of west African percussion, flamenco rhythmic patterns, and totonaku shamanic harmonies. Indian classical music masterclass

Musician? Would you like to learn more about Indian classical music? How about integrating your own musical style within the magical sounds of India! Come and join our free of charge masterclass. Conducted by the professional Sitar player, KG Westman, this workshop will provide you with the basics of Indian classical music as well as an opportunity to integrate your own musical style in an open jamming session. K.G. Westman is a Swedish sitar player who is one of Europe´s foremost in the field of north Indian classical and semi classical music. Due to training in both Indian and western music, he is one of few with a deep understanding of both systems. Each winter K.G. stays in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India to continue training under the guidence of Pandit Rabindra Narayan Goswami, a most respected sitar master of the holy city. As a senior student of Goswamiji, he is now a frequent performer in Europe, India, as well as the rest of the world.

Coming directly from the rich lands of the far east, we are pleased to present you Indian percussion and Tabla workshop conducted by the Tabla master Survat Apte. If you are a musician/percussionist, and would like to enrich your skills by learning the secrets and techniques of the Indian percussion, this is your chance. Come and join us for the free of charge workshop, where Survat will introduce you to the basics of the Indian percussion through practical lessons, Konokkol and Padhant (vocal recitation of rhythmic patterns) practices. The floor will be open for jamming afterwards.

Oriental jazz masterclass

Musician? Would you like to learn more about oriental jazz music? Join us for an oriental jazz music workshop with the world renowned Egyptian young oud virtuoso, Mohamed Abozekry. Abo Zekry is one of the most famous Oud players in the arab world. He went on in 2009 to win first place in the International Oud Competition held in Damascus Syria, Which exposed his virtuosity and deep musicality to the recognition of the Arab World. Leaving Egypt to pursue higher studies, in France he completed his degree of Musicology, which he earned from the University of Lyon. During this period, along with immersing himself in the theory and tradition of Western music, the cultural diversity of France exposed Abozekry to stretches of musical styles, from Latin to Indian and Tzigane.

Über

Adham Al-Sayyad ist ein multidisziplinärer ägyptischer Künstler, Forscher und Projektmanager, der in den Bereichen Musikethnologie, Technik, Pädagogik und soziale Projekte tätig ist. Seit 2010 spielt er Kawala (eine traditionelle ägyptische Flöte), die er von Großmeister Ahmed Al-Arnab bei Sufi-Festivals in ganz Ägypten erlernt hat, wo das Instrument am häufigsten gespielt wird.

Seit seiner Ankunft in Luxemburg im Jahr 2017 hat er das Weltmusikprojekt ANASEA an der Universität Luxemburgs espace cultures ins Leben gerufen, mit dem Ziel, das globale kulturelle Erbe unter den multikulturellen Gemeinschaften der Region zu bewahren und wiederzubeleben, indem er Meisterklassen zu weltweiten folkloristischen Künsten organisiert und Workshops veranstaltet, in denen multikulturelle Musiker sich gegenseitig die Kunst und Musik ihrer Länder und Kulturen beibringen und daran arbeiten, ihre Stile für eine abschließende Aufführung zu vermischen. 

Adhams Leidenschaft für die Verbindung von "ungleichen Dingen" beschränkt sich nicht auf die Schaffung multikultureller Synergien - er forscht auf dem Gebiet des Schweißens ungleicher Materialien. Sein Vertrauen in das Potenzial der multikulturellen Bewahrung und des interkulturellen Austauschs für die nachhaltige Entwicklung von Gemeinschaften und Technologien veranlasste ihn zur Mitgründung der Intangible World Heritage Assocoation (IWHO) ASBL in Luxemburg im Jahr 2020, deren Vorsitz er derzeit innehat. Ziel der IWHO ist es, durch die Beseitigung von Austauschbarrieren eine Brücke zwischen ursprünglichem Wissen und den Anforderungen der Moderne zu schlagen. Adham schließt derzeit sein Promotionsstudium an der Universität Luxemburg ab.
