“Sanem is a great place to live, whatever your age!”

Inverview with Simone Asselborn-Bintz, Mayor of the town of Sanem

Can you describe the municipality?

SIMONE ASSELBORN-BINTZ: The municipality has four villages, Sanem, Soleuvre, Belvaux and Ehlerange, 18,000 inhabitants (aos of this year) and 114 nationalities. Thanks to our municipal facilities, in particular our old people’s home, it is a good place to live, whatever your age!

What is your vision for Sanem between now and 2030?

New affordable housing will be available in Belvaux and Sanem Castle is being brought back to life. It will house a branch of the Ecole d’Hotellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg (Luxembourg School of Hotel Management and Tourism). It will even house a restaurant run by its students! The centres of our various villages have been improved thanks to the arrival of local convenience stores. Many things are happening, particularly on the environmental front, such as the inter-generational gardens at Matgesfeld. This is a place that welcomes young and old and aims to raise awareness and inform people about circular economy and recycling.

What are your three highlights from the Esch2022 programme?
