Ride your Bike!

Vëlosummer

The Vëlosummer is a joint initiative of the General Directorate for Tourism and the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works. In collaboration with 65 municipalities, a number of roads throughout the country will be reserved for cyclists from 31st July onwards. This is a special occasion to enjoy leisurely rides on trafficfree roads. Routes will be open to the public either on weekends, or even throughout the whole month of August.
These bike tours provide the unique opportunity to head through the beautiful valleys of the Oesling, the Syre, the Mamer and the Alzette, or to explore the vineyards of the Moselle. Furthermore, you have the possibility to ride along the “Stausee” reservoir or the castles in the Guttland, and get to know the Minett by bike. Along the way, you will pass by touristic highlights and can participate in a Vëlosummer sticker contest. To help you choose an itinerary, a map was designed together with ProVelo, illustrating twelve scenic bike tours. The map is available for download on www.velosummer.lu, where you can also find additional information about the routes and further practical details. During the Vëlosummer it is important to remember that: (1) closed roads will remain accessible to residents as well as public transport; and traffic regulations will remain in force at all times; (2) bicycles can only be stored in designated storage areas on trains and buses; (3) the routes of the Vëlosummer are signposted as such. Why not try the new luggage transport service movewecarry.lu ? Introduced by the General Directorate for Tourism, it transports cyclists’ luggage free of charge from one accommodation to the next. Don’t’ forget to use the “50 EUR “- overnight vouchers, distributed in the wake of the national tourism campaign “Lëtzebuerg – Dat ass Vakanz”. The vouchers can be redeemed in every facility participating in the voucher system.

Minett by Bike

The idyllic Minett by bike tour is taking place throughout the month of August, inviting you to discover the touristic highlights of the Minett region on two wheels. It provides bike enthusiasts with the opportunity to cross the entire southern region at their own pace by choosing the length of the segments they want to cycle. On the weekend of 14 and 15 August, Esch2022 will be installing a bicycle repair station next to the visitor centre in Ellergronn in collaboration with the regional tourism association VisitMinett as part of the Minett Cycle Tour. We cordially invite you to take a rest in Ellergronn and we look forward to meeting all participants. A detailed route map can be found in the Geoportail.

P.S. A great surprise awaits our first visitors!
On your bikes, ready, go!
