Christiane Brassel-Rausch, mayor of Differdange : “We are very concerned with ecology”

In the interview, Christiane Brassel-Rausch reveals the future visions of the municipality as well as her personal favourite projects for the coming weeks.
Could you present your municipality?
CHRISTIANE RAUSCH: Differdange is a city in transition and full development, which is mobilising more than ever for the future. It is made up of over 100 different nationalities.
What is your vision for the municipality between now and 2030?
We are very concerned with ecology here. In fact, we are the only Luxembourg city to participate in the EU’s mission to make cities climate neutral and smart by 2030. We also have a floating photovoltaic plant with more than 25,000 m2 of solar panels floating on a pond on the
ArcelorMittal site in Differdange. We must also meet the challenge of housing for our residents, but also for the young people who attend our schools and university. Hence the Gravity housing project and its affordable housing offer.
What are your three favourites from the Esch2022 programme?
- Le Lommelshaff – TERRE FERME
A protected farm in Differdange where the agricultural heritage of the town is highlighted in the form of an exhibition, workshops and a play.
- Diffmix
This project focuses on several public places where artists create installations. I particularly like the one around the washhouse.
- “Le Grand Bal” de DifferDanceDays
This is an interactive and immersive artistic performance that unfolds in multiple spaces scattered throughout the Aalt Stadhaus that will allow the public to experience the balls of past eras as well as contemporary dance.
