PARK(ing) Day in the municipalities of Esch2022

How do you transform car parks into convivial places? This question was explored in San Francisco in 2005. What started as a guerrilla art project and act of design activism in a single car park in the Californian city has developed into a global movement, today’s PARK(ing) Day. This special event has evolved over time into a global experiment where car parks have become a place for social exchange, artistic expression and play. And so, this year too, some of the Esch2022 municipalities are letting their residents reclaim urban space from cars and turn it into a meeting place of urban conviviality.
Would you like to support this initiative? In the following, you will find a detailed overview with activities, locations and times:
On Friday, September 17, 2021 in the municipality of Sanem:
Would you like to quickly make your bike roadworthy? Then come along to the (PARK)ing Day in Soleuvre in the municipality of Sanem and let experts help you repair your bike on the spot. You don’t have a bike yet and would like to get an e-bike or an E-Cargo Bike? Then don’t hesitate to come by and discover the various models on display. Do you have items and clothes at home that are still in good condition but you would like to part with? Then do something good and donate them for a good cause by bringing them to the Give Box XXL. From 12 noon onwards, a DJ will provide music and entertainment, and at 5.30 pm you can join the cyclists from Le Guidon Belvaux for an hour on their bike ride along the cycle paths through the municipality of Sanem. For those who prefer walking, a walking tour of the Zolwerknapp hill will also begin at 5.30 pm. Food and drinks will also be provided.

You can also make an important contribution to protecting the environment by taking part in a big rubbish collection operation organised by the “Communauté des Communes Haut Val d’Alzette” (CCPHVA) and Esch2022. Together with the PickitUp Luxembourg association, a partner of Esch2022, discover the surroundings of Ottange and help collect the rubbish you find during your walk. If you don’t have gloves, bin bags or tongs, no problem, we can provide you with some on site. And at 4.30 pm the CCPHVA will present the prizes for the “Ville en Selle” competition.
