“Il était une fois dans l’Est”: a documentary film on French commuters

Every day, tens of thousands of workers, executives and other professionals flock from France to the Grand Duchy to work. They are attracted by the two to three times higher salaries in Luxembourg’s thriving service sector. From Kirchberg to Thionville, from the working-class housing estates of Aumetz to the brand new housing estates of Tressange, this film accompanies the cross-border workers in their daily commute. Right here, in the heart of Europe, we encounter the problems of the economic and social crisis, the managerial violence and the voices of the vulnerable.

The screening of the film “Il était une fois dans l’Est” will be followed by a discussion with the authors and directors, Mehdi Ahoudig and Samuel Bollendorff.
