Talking about free-spirited circus performers and wacky dream worlds

Shadow theatre Natchav © Escher Theater

The Escher Theatre hosts two very special theatre performances for young audiences in November.

Between the 17th and 18th of November, the shadow theatre Natchav will be coming to Esch, and is guaranteed to bring a sparkle to everyone’s eyes. It tells the story of a circus troupe that cherishes its freedom and, in this spirit, defies all laws – even those of gravity. Together with some live musicians, the artists create a fantastic world of shadow and light right before the audience’s eyes. Unfortunately, the local authorities try to sabotage the happy spectacle. But the artists are not so easily defeated!

Then, on 27 November, the Escher Theatre proudly presents the play Billy La Nuit, which delves deep into the world of a child’s imagination. Billy is a little girl whose father works nights. Like every evening, he has made sure everything is taken care of: from the ready-packed school bag to the nightly bedtime story. Afterwards, the little girl spends the evening alone in her room, getting ready for the night… But then, suddenly, she drifts off into a world of mysterious dreams where she will have a series of unexpected encounters. Suddenly, however, the furniture in Billy’s dark room comes to life and her fears give way to liberating laughter.

Inspired by Ole Lukøje – the alter ego of Hans Christian Andersen’s Sandman – Aurélie Namur has created a story that addresses the great anxieties children often experience just before bedtime.
