Minett UNESCO Biosphere

Congratulations to the Syndicat Pro-Sud and the South Region, just labeled “biosphere reserve” by UNESCO.
On 28 October, Minett became a biosphere reserve recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). Luxembourg is now part of the scientific MAB programme which was first established in the 1970s. In early 2020, the total number of biosphere reserves was up to 701, spanning 124 countries. Thanks to a global network, they are able to exchange and share their experiences and skills.
For the region, obtaining this label is above all a great recognition. Through their initiatives, the eleven municipalities of the PRO-SUD syndicate have always sought to promote, encourage and develop original and innovative actions that improve the lifestyles of its inhabitants, while preserving the surrounding nature. This UNESCO label is not only an honor, but also a challenge. We’re all on the way to build a sustainable and prosperous future!
