DiffMix invites visitors of Esch2022 to explore no longer ordinary public places in the five districts of Differdange. Involving citizens through an active participation process, neighborhood locations are determined that have a superb influence on the everyday life of their residents. Public places, whose quality as living space will be re-defined. Artists, who present their ideas and proposals in an open call, engage in interaction with citizens. Residents choose their favorites from the submissions and produce them together with the selected artists. As a result, DiffMix brings a new cultural and participatory experience of public space to residents and visitors through its tangible and reflective creation process.

Light for a Wash House
Official opening and vernissage of the artistic transformation of the historic wash house Grand Rue / Differdange city center by An Atelier of Other. Permanent light installation with cocoons made out of up-cycled fibreglass.

Co-Creation with Visitors - Building Amphitheatre Chiers
Participatory workshop for the realisation of the artistic transformation at Parc de la Chiers by Lilo Ming Kiefer and Astvaldur Axel Thorisson. Citizens and visitors are invited to help creating a wooden amphitheatre-like community stage that can be used for improvisations or events. « Amphitheatre Chiers » est une scène publique similaire à un amphithéâtre, inspirée par la forme arrondie de la zone centrale du parc. La scène peut être utilisée pour des événements et improvisations. Tous les habitant·es, intéressé·es et visiteurs d’Esch2022 sont invité·es les samedi et dimanche 02 et 03 juillet à participer à la construction de l’« Amphithéâtre Chiers ». Si vous êtes intéressé·es, passez nous voir et apportez votre pierre à l’édifice.

Urban transformation: Colours of Differdange
Realisation of the artistic transformation of Place des Alliés by Julia Zasada and Jakub Witkowski. Letters that spell out DIFFERDANGE and are made in different colours to give a playful look to the space and to provide something for all, young and old: to sit, to play games, to leave a bike, to plant flowers and herbs, and to take pictures.

KISSING BENCH
“Kissing Bench” is an installation that features two huge portraits of the first gay couple that married in Luxemburg placed on the corner of the Tillebierg building. Dynamic outdoor portraits swaying in the wind and sparkling in the sun, supplemented with a “kissing bench” to sit and wait for the magic. Open Stage
“Amphitheatre Chiers” is an amphitheatre-like community stage inspired by the round shape of the central area of the park. The stage can be used for improvisations and events, please feel free to use it. The Amphitheatre has been created by Lilo Ming Kiefer an Ástvaldur Axel Thorisson.
