Escher TheaterDescription
More and more stage experiments are taking convoluting paths to tell us stories, by playing on the distance between what is seen and what is heard, or by drawing the spectator into a new situation, or by recycling other narratives, such as films, tales or images, etc. These quirky surprises are often playful and humorous, especially when they are performed live. There are imagined spaces to tell new stories, going beyond the usual and expected stage/spectator relationship. 'D'Autres Histoires' will be an opportunity to discover several of these new artistic proposals. 'D'Autres Histoires' will take place in the Théâtre d'Esch from 2th to 22th of May 2022. It will showcase several projects selected for their innovative qualities, and the new way in which they remix artistic elements from other artistic productions.

The Assembly
Welcome to The Assembly: a multisensory journey, during which movements are transformed into music. In virtual reality you meet The Memory of Voice, a mystical figure whose body is entirely composed of human sounds. Become part of a multidimensional instrument and sound-dance to dreamy melodies and electronic beats that you create. You are joined by others and together in virtual reality you form The Assembly. Back in the real world you step into an interactive installation, creating a collective chant with other visitors as you wander through a maze of veils. At night, this space becomes a stage and you can be part of an electronic concert-performance.

Free Watt

About
Escher Theater
The Escher Theater stages shows performed by visiting theatrical companies as well as presenting its own productions. Since 2018, it has been managed by the theatre director Carole Lorang. Each season, it presents around fifty shows from the worlds of theatre, dance and music – or an amalgam of those disciplines –, including not only productions originating from the European scene but also home-grown works from Luxembourg. The theatre’s location, standing as it does at the crossroads of several countries, underlines its cross-border, multicultural function as the provider of a multilingual show program, staged primarily in French and German. Since 2018, one of the key aspects of its project has been its shows aimed at younger audiences, along with shows which affirm – through the use of humor in particular – its mission to question reality.
