“Did you know that the town looks like a butterfly from the sky?”

Interview with Jeannot Fürpass, Major of the town of Mondercange
Can you describe your town?
Surrounded by fields and meadows, Mondercange is an attractive community with good places to eat and drink. Did you know that from the sky, the town looks like a butterfly?
What is your vision for Mondercange between now and 2030?
We will have to deal with the demographic changes we are experiencing. Two large housing developments are due to be built, one with 65 houses in Mondercange, the other with 180 units in Pontpierre, and we will also adapt our school and after-school offer in response. We also plan to put the focus on Bergem and Pontpierre, so that they are not just dormitory towns. As far as the environment is concerned, we choose all our profects according to their sustainability. Mondercange should also become self-sufficient within five years in terms of its energy production thanks to the future wind turbine in Bergem and the future photovoltaic park on Mondercange landfill site.
What are your three highlights form the Esch2022 programme?
