The Escher Theater is a welcoming and creative theatre, headed since 2018 by stage director Carole Lorang. Each season, it presents more than fifty theatre, dance, music and cross-disciplinary productions by European and local ensembles. Situated at the crossroads of several countries, the theatre asserts its cross-border and multicultural dimension by offering multilingual programmes, with a focus on French and German. Since 2018, its programmes have been paying special attention to plays for young audiences as well as to plays that challenge reality, often through humour.

Esch2022, European Capital of Culture gives the Escher Theater the opportunity to open a second venue in the former Ariston cinema, as from the summer of 2022. The new stage will strengthen the theatre’s artistic development further and offer more room for a diverse programme which may also include film projects.
